Obituary of John Francis McVicar

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Francis McVicar. John passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 20, 2025, just one day shy of his 80th birthday.
He will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 58 years Eleanor McVicar (nee: Barber) and his children Jennifer (Dan) McVicar-Girard of Oshawa and John Mark of Toronto. Proud grandfather and forever loved by his grandchildren Zachary, Ashley, Penelope, and Jasper John. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Eva F. (nee: Kinney) McVicar and brothers Wayne, Roger and Anthony (Tony) McVicar. Forever remembered and loved by brother Bill (Betty) McVicar of Calais Me., and sisters Diane (Bill) Bowman of St. Stephen NB and Linda (Luke) Babineau of Seeleys Cove NB. Remembered fondly by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

John was a proud member of the Canadian Navy in his younger days and a proud member for 50 years of the Royal Canadian Legion. He always shared stories of his time in the navy especially those times with his lifelong friend Donnie Holt. John was proud of his 40 plus years working in engineering but when he finally retired he loved working on his garden and enjoying a swim in his pool especially when his family came and joined him. He was proud of his family and of his New Brunswick roots. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
