Ronald Joseph Blackmore
9 October 1935 – 18 February 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Joseph Blackmore, who died peacefully on the 18 of February 2025 at the age of 89 at the John M. Parrott Centre for the Aged in Napanee, Ontario. His memory lives on in his children Dr. Elizabeth Jane and Paul David. Also mourning his loss are siblings Edward (Betty), Joseph (Joan), Barbara, Madeline (John), Stella, Margaret (Christian) and Marie. Predeceased by his wife of 47 years Lynn (née MacCharles), daughter Jennifer, and parents Bridget (née Hanlon) and Philip, brothers William and Tom, and sister Lena.

After completing his apprenticeship as a millwright in his hometown of Grand Falls, Newfoundland, Ron worked in the local paper mill, following in his father's footsteps. In parallel, Ron rose to the rank of Captain in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment (Militia). In search of new opportunities, Ron moved to Toronto to begin a long and fulfilling career with IBM, where he worked for over 25 years. Following his time at IBM, he continued his professional journey with Cadillac Fairview and later at St. Patrick’s Church. Ron was a dedicated husband and an inspirational father, known for his warmth, humour, and quick wit. He always had a joke at the ready and a saying for every occasion. His laughter and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him.

A Memorial will be held at Dixon Garland Funeral Home (66 Main Street, Markham), on 25 February 2025 from 3 to 6 p.m. (service at 3:30 p.m.).
