Obituary of Donald Neep Ludbrook

Donald Neep Ludbrook (June 17, 1933- Sept 10th, 2021)

Loving husband of Jenifer (nee Shepherd) for 60 wonderful years, amazing father to Karen (Chris), Ann, John (Lynda), Mark and Angela. Adoring Grandfather to Andrew (Madeleine), Philip (Sophie), Peter, William, Mark, Anna, Jack, Nicholas, and Henry. Great-grandfather of Athena and Gabriel. Full of a zest for life, Don was a Master Electrician and a Christmas tree farmer, running the Ludbrook Christmas Tree farm for over 30 years in Stouffville Ontario. Don and Jenifer loved to travel and frequently visited Australia to visit his Australian family. Born in Perth, Australia Don left Australia at 21 and travelled the world for 7 years, including stints in London, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Venezuela. Coming to Canada in 1959, he met Jenifer in 1960. They fell in love, married in 1961 and decided to stay in Canada to raise their family. They bought a farm in Stouffville in 1973, where Don built his house by hand. Don and Jenifer have lived in the Stouffville area since then.

Don always had an optimistic twinkle in his striking blue eyes, was generous to others, and willing to help anyone at “the drop of a hat.” He was a great provider for his family. A wonderful, involved, and proud father to his children he pushed strollers and changed nappies. He loved to take his grandchildren to the Zoo or visit with them. One of his favourite sayings was “This is what you call living!” Family dinners, having a flutter at the track, reading the paper, chatting with friends and mates, and debating politics were his passions. He was active politically all his life and believed strongly in social justice.  He loved to laugh, travel and spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 18th, 2021 from 1-4 pm. Please contact kludbrook@live.com for directions. Donations can be made in Don’s name to the Salvation Army.
